Welcome to Your Guide Conversation

We're so glad you're here.

Thank you for booking a Compass Guide conversation.

Whether you're exploring your first career, considering a career change, navigating leadership, or simply looking for perspective, you've already taken one of the most important steps: reaching out.

One thoughtful conversation can change how you see your next step.

This page will help you make the most of your session.

Step 1: Prepare for Your Conversation

To help you get the most value from your time together, I've created a short guide — The Compass Conversation Journal.

It will help you: ✓ Clarify what you want from the conversation ✓ Organize your thoughts ✓ Identify the questions you most want answered ✓ Leave with clear next steps

Step 2: Spend 10 Minutes Reflecting

You don't need perfect answers before your conversation.

But spending a few minutes thinking about these questions will help you use your time intentionally.

Why did you book this conversation? What prompted you to seek guidance right now? What are you hoping to leave with?

Maybe it's:

  • clarity

  • confidence

  • a new perspective

  • practical advice

  • encouragement

  • connections

There isn't a wrong answer.

If your Guide could answer only ONE question... what would it be?

Step 3: Make the Most of Your Time

Some of the best conversations happen when you're curious rather than trying to impress.

Here are a few tips.

Be honest. You don't have to have everything figured out.

Share context. The more your Guide understands where you are, the more relevant their advice can be.

Ask follow-up questions. Sometimes the most valuable insight comes from digging a little deeper.

Take notes. You'll probably leave with more ideas than you expect.

Do your research. What do you know about your Guide — where they worked, how they got their start, and what they do now? The more prepared you are, the better.

Step 4: After Your Conversation

Your conversation doesn't have to end when the call ends.

Take a few minutes afterward to reflect.

Ask yourself:

  • What surprised me?

  • What resonated most?

  • What action will I take this week?

  • Who else should I talk to?

  • Did I send a thank you note?

Small actions create momentum.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is my conversation? (Answer based on booking.)

Can I reschedule? Yes, up to 24 hours before your scheduled time. Use the link in your confirmation email.

Should I send materials beforehand? If your Guide requests a résumé or portfolio, feel free to send it. Otherwise, the Conversation Journal should be enough to help you prepare.

What if I don't know what to ask? That's completely okay. Many people begin their conversation with uncertainty. Your Guide is there to help you think through your situation, not to expect that you've already figured it all out.

(If you'd like more space to prepare and reflect between conversations, Compass Membership includes resources built for exactly that.)

A Note from Sam

Thank you for trusting Compass to be part of your career journey.

Over the years, I've seen how one conversation can open a door, shift someone's perspective, or give them the confidence to take a step they weren't sure they could take.

That's why I created Compass Guides.

Every Guide has been personally invited because I believe they bring not only expertise, but also generosity, curiosity, and a genuine desire to help others.

I hope this conversation gives you exactly what you need for whatever comes next.

See you soon,

Samantha Glatzer Founder, Your Career Compass
