Career Guide Conversation Booking Policy

Thank you for booking a Career Guide Conversation through Your Career Compass.

Career Guide Conversations are designed to give you the opportunity to learn from professionals who have built careers across a wide range of industries, roles, and career paths.

Whether you're exploring a new direction, preparing for your next move, or simply looking for perspective from someone who has traveled a similar road, these conversations are intended to provide insight, encouragement, and real-world experience.

By booking a Career Guide Conversation, you agree to the following terms.

Purpose of Career Guide Conversations

Career Guide Conversations are educational and informational discussions designed to help you:

  • Learn about careers, industries, companies, and professional roles

  • Explore career paths and opportunities

  • Better understand day-to-day work and career progression

  • Gain perspective from experienced professionals

  • Ask thoughtful questions about professional growth

  • Build confidence through meaningful career conversations

These conversations are intended to provide guidance and perspective.

They are not recruiting, placement, or employment services.

Setting Expectations

Booking a Career Guide Conversation does not guarantee:

  • Employment

  • Interviews

  • Internships

  • Job offers

  • Referrals

  • Introductions to employers or hiring managers

  • Résumé, portfolio, or LinkedIn reviews unless specifically offered by the Career Guide

  • Ongoing mentoring or coaching

  • Future communication outside the scheduled session

  • Any specific career outcome

Each Career Guide determines the type of guidance they choose to provide based on their own experience, expertise, and professional boundaries.

Independent Career Guides

Career Guides are independent professionals who participate in the Your Career Compass community by sharing their own experiences and perspectives.

Career Guides are not employees, recruiters, agents, or representatives of Your Career Compass.

Opinions shared during Career Guide Conversations are those of the individual Guide and do not necessarily reflect the views of Your Career Compass.

Booking & Payment

Appointments are confirmed once booking and payment have been completed.

Compass Members receive preferred member pricing.

Public participants may book Career Guide Conversations at the published public rate.

Cancellation & Rescheduling

You may cancel or reschedule your appointment up to 24 hours before your scheduled session.

Requests received less than 24 hours before the appointment are not eligible for a refund.

Rescheduling within 24 hours is not guaranteed and will be considered at the discretion of Your Career Compass and the Career Guide.

Refund Policy

More than 24 hours before your session

You may:

  • Reschedule your appointment, or

  • Request a full refund.

Less than 24 hours before your session

Refunds are not available.

No-Shows

If you do not attend your scheduled session without advance notice, your appointment will be considered complete.

No refunds or credits will be issued.

If Your Career Guide Needs to Cancel

Occasionally, unexpected circumstances arise.

If your Career Guide needs to cancel or reschedule:

  • You will be notified as soon as possible.

  • You may reschedule your appointment at no additional cost.

  • If another mutually agreeable time cannot be arranged, you will receive a full refund.

Technology

Participants are responsible for joining the session on time and ensuring they have a reliable internet connection.

If technical issues prevent the conversation from taking place, Your Career Compass and the Career Guide will work together to determine an appropriate resolution.

Participant Expectations

To help create a valuable experience, participants agree to:

  • Arrive on time.

  • Come prepared with thoughtful questions.

  • Participate respectfully and professionally.

  • Respect the Career Guide's time, expertise, and personal boundaries.

  • Maintain a courteous and inclusive environment throughout the conversation.

Harassment, discrimination, abusive language, or inappropriate behavior may result in the immediate termination of the session without refund and may result in removal from future Guide Conversations or the Compass community.

Career Guide Boundaries

Career Guides generously volunteer their time and expertise to support members and guests.

Career Guides are not expected to:

  • Review extensive materials before or after the session.

  • Provide ongoing mentoring or coaching.

  • Respond to follow-up requests outside the scheduled appointment.

  • Make introductions or referrals.

  • Recommend participants for employment.

  • Provide legal, financial, tax, medical, or mental health advice.

Any support beyond the scheduled conversation is entirely at the discretion of the Career Guide.

Confidentiality & Recording

Career Guide Conversations are intended to be private and confidential.

Your Career Compass does not record private one-to-one Career Guide Conversations.

Neither the participant nor the Career Guide may record a private session without the express consent of both parties.

If both parties agree to record the conversation, the recording is intended solely for personal reference and may not be copied, distributed, published, or shared without the written permission of both the participant and the Career Guide.

Limitation of Responsibility

Advice shared during Career Guide Conversations reflects each Career Guide's personal experiences, opinions, and professional perspective.

Participants remain solely responsible for their own career decisions, actions, and outcomes.

Your Career Compass does not guarantee employment, interviews, referrals, promotions, hiring decisions, or any specific career outcome resulting from participation in a Career Guide Conversation.

Agreement

By booking a Career Guide Conversation, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this Career Guide Conversation Booking Policy, as well as the Your Career Compass Membership Agreement & Terms of Use and Privacy Policy & Media Consent, where applicable.
